Lead the hands on claims management and expert contracting advice across the contracts portfolio for the Project, covering strategic Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation (EPC/EPCI) contracts with multiple international players. Lead dispute resolution to achieve the best commercial outcome & maximize value protection for the project.
The project comprises a remotely operated offshore platform and onshore gas plant, with infrastructure that includes one of the longest sour wet gas offshore pipelines in the world stretching more than 200 km, supplying gas supply to the PETRONAS LNG Complex. The project is designed to produce 800 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscf/d). Gas production is expected to start in 2026.

What's the role?
- Lead the planning, identification, implementation and monitoring claims preventions strategy, measures, procedures and mitigation across the contracts portfolio for the project including but not limited to 5 strategic EPC/EPCI contracts with multiple international players; Covering onshore development, shallow water & Deepwater contracts.
- Lead the effective management of contract claims and variations to achieve the best commercial outcome for the project.
- Lead resolution of Claims from or against contractors.
- Advise and guide CP Leads, Contract Holders, Company Representatives on variation and change management defense.
- Coordinate with Shell’s group on use of resources (internal and external experts) as part of preparation for claim positioning.
- Manage Company’s response to claims and contentious variation requests across all contracts portfolio.
- Lead preparation of claims position including all the necessary analysis and impact studies.
- Advise and guide CP Leads, Contract Holders, Company Representatives on how to preserve and exercise contractual remedies to protect or recover value. Identify and monitor risk areas in key project contracts.
Key Challenges:
- Understanding of strategic, technical, legal, financing, taxation and commercial considerations, able to cope with complications and uncertainties of major multidisciplinary oil and gas projects in a complex business environment.
- First onshore development for Shell Malaysia, ability to deal with international contractors that are new to Shell.
What do we need from you?
- Seasoned professional with wide experience (20 years+) of Supply Chain Management functions and activities including detailed knowledge of project development with a further relevant qualification e.g. MSc Construction Law, Law or Arbitration or similar with extensive knowledge and experience (10 years+) of the role of a Sr. Claims Consultant on oil and gas projects.
- Proven ability of the successful development and negotiation of complex EPC contractual claim submissions. Dispute resolution and arbitration experience is considered a plus.
- Sound understanding of technical issues gained through successfully fulfilling variety of associated roles across the businesses in varied project working environments. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
- Able to fully take into account business and operations requirements and objective while discharging its duties of contract management and claims support
